On 29th October 2024, the Green Hub Lisbon celebrated its grand opening, spearheaded by Unicorn Factory Lisboa, dedicated to fostering sustainable innovation and entrepreneurship. Among the esteemed speakers at the roundtable discussion was Sofia Queiroz, Principal at MSM, who shared her valuable insights on the intersection of purpose, investment, and policy in driving sustainable business practices.

The roundtable featured a diverse panel of experts committed to sustainability:

• André Pedro, Co-Founder & CEO of Manie, is dedicated to innovative solutions that promote sustainable practices. His entrepreneurial spirit and passion for environmental sustainability have been instrumental in developing strategies that integrate eco-friendly principles into business operations.
• Laetitia de Casanova, Director of B Lab Portugal, plays a crucial role in promoting B Corporations that use business as a force for good. Her expertise in responsible business practices and sustainability emphasizes the importance of accountability and transparency in achieving sustainable goals.
• Luís Rebelo, Policy Manager at Cleantech for Iberia, enhances the role of clean technologies in the region's sustainability agenda. With a strong background in policy advocacy, Luís addresses the challenges and opportunities for green entrepreneurs, highlighting the vital connection between policy and sustainable business growth.
• Sofia Queiroz, representing maze, is a prominent advocate for sustainable entrepreneurship, and she emphasised the importance of aligning business models with environmental values and the role of strategic investments in supporting green initiatives.

The panel, moderated by Rita Trabulo, Innovation and Knowledge Director at CCA, fostered engaging discussions on the challenges and opportunities within the sustainability sector. Rita introduced the topics and guided the conversation, ensuring that all panelists shared their unique insights on how startups can integrate purpose into their core operations, the criteria used to define “green” investments, and the collaborative efforts needed among stakeholders.

The Green Hub Lisboa aims to create a collaborative environment for all stakeholders in sustainability, including startups, scaleups, corporate partners, and investors.
