Come for the impact. Stay for the toolbox.

As we approach our 10 year anniversary, we are launching a simpler version of our website. Why? We want to make our positioning unequivocal: maze works with a toolbox of impact investment tools. In combination, these tools deliver positive social and environmental outcomes. They are adopted by entrepreneurs, investors, corporates, and public sector entities.

Our ethos is that it all starts with the social and environmental challenge that needs to be solved. The combination of tools is a means to that end. Here are some of the tools that we use regularly:

• Venture capital: for early-stage tech ventures where profit and impact are mutually reinforcing. We have invested ~25m€ in 37 companies across Europe to date.
• Growth programmes: to build capacity of impact solutions in areas such as fundraising, product management, impact measurement and digital transformation. We have supported 200+ companies globally.
• Outcomes-based commissioning: Outcome-based instruments: to help public services innovate and deliver better results. We have structured and managed five Social Impact Bonds in education, employment and children services.
• Impact Advisory: for corporates that want to embed impact into their business operations through materiality assessments, sustainability strategy, service design methodology, proof of concepts and corporate-startup pilots.
• Platform: we build tech-based custom solutions so founders and investors can manage their impact performance based on the Impact Management Framework, which is flexible to ESG and SFDR's recent legislation.

95 million Europeans are living at risk of poverty or social exclusion. The summer of 2022 was the hottest on record in Europe (which was set in 2021).

If we are serious about tackling the challenges that we face, one solution in isolation will not be a panacea. Positive outcomes are achieved via a range of tools and skills, each serving specific needs and suiting specific models.

Over the past years, we’ve been forcing ourselves to be put into a box. What are we? We are not a VC. We are not an accelerator. We are not a Social Impact Bond machine. We are not consultants.

We are whatever we need to be in our ambition to prove that impact is the biggest economic opportunity of our times. That requires a toolbox that will continue being filled with the best of our work, skills, and ambition.
